Copie conforme (Abbas Kiarostami, 2010)

Copie conforme (2010)
This is the story of a meeting between one man and one woman, in a small Italian village in Southern Tuscany. The man is a British author who has just finished giving a lecture at a conference. The woman, from France, owns an art gallery. This is a universal story that could happen to anyone, anywhere.
Certified Copy, the new film from Abbas Kiarostami, the award-winning Iranian filmmaker, producer, and writer. Matt Noller of the House Next Door described the film as the ‘first genuinely great film of Cannes 2010’. He describes it as something like a “Tuscan Before Sunset”, and a “self-aware commentary on art, as well as an examination of reflection, imitation, and performance in love and life.” It stars Juliette Binoche and opera singer William Shimmell.
